Building Momentum: Production Underway on Conestoga College’s Smart Automation Factory
TFA Solutions is proud to share an update on our continued partnership with Conestoga College as the Smart Automation Factory moves fully into production.
What started as a detailed design and planning effort is now taking physical shape. Stations are being built. Frames are assembled. Panels are wired. The photos captured alongside this update highlight real progress across multiple stations, each at different stages of completion.
This project is no longer approaching the build phase. Production is underway.
From Design to the Shop Floor
The Smart Automation Factory is a four-station production system designed to simulate a complete industrial manufacturing process. From injection molding through final packaging, each station represents a critical step in a modern automated line.
TFA Solutions has been contracted to manufacture, build, and assemble multiple full production lines for this project. As production progresses, each station is coming together with durability, flexibility, and industrial realism at the forefront.
Seeing the stations in various stages of assembly tells the story best. Structural builds are complete on some units, while others are deep into mechanical and electrical integration. This phased progress reflects how real automation projects are built, tested, and refined.
What’s Being Built
This is not a typical classroom setup. The Smart Automation Factory includes:
Independently controlled stations using industrial PLC platforms
Custom electrical panels for power, safety, and device control
Modular aluminum base structures for long-term flexibility
Vision inspection systems and marking technologies
Servo motion, RFID tracking, and networked automation components
Every decision is made with real-world manufacturing in mind, ensuring students gain experience with the same technologies they will encounter in industry.
Why It Matters
As manufacturing continues to evolve, hands-on experience with modern automation systems is more important than ever. This project gives students exposure to the full lifecycle of an automation build, not just the finished result.
By engaging with equipment as it is assembled, integrated, and commissioned, students gain a deeper understanding of how complex systems come together. That experience is invaluable.
For TFA Solutions, projects like this align directly with what we do best. Designing, building, and automating systems that are practical, scalable, and built to last, while supporting the development of future automation talent.
What’s Next
Production will continue as additional stations are completed and systems move closer to full operation. We will keep sharing progress updates as milestones are reached and the Smart Automation Factory continues to take shape.
We are excited to see this project coming together and proud to be part of building an environment that connects education with real industrial automation.
